Beanplanet delivers UK land, property and street gazetteer application

Beanplanet completed development of a the National Land and Property Gazetteer (NLPG) and National Street Gazetteer (NSG) application for Intelligent Addressing and local government (LGIH). The Central Maintenance (CM) application presents a single point of access and a reference to all land, property and street information in the UK - more than 70 million records in total.

Each of the 630 local authorities has to maintain the NLPG and NSG registers for their district. The CM application provides the capability to view and maintain the data, right from the internet browser. Until now, local authorities have been using heavyweight desktop computer installations and have been confronted with the usual rollout and upgrade issues - leading to more downtime and higher installation, upgrade and running costs.

CM facilitates viewing and editing all NLPG and NSG Data Transfer Format (DTF) information, including address and postcode information and related geospatial information through the provision of intelligent forms and via an embedded map (see screenshot). Property points and the street geometry can be fully created and maintained through the CM application, making the geospatial information more accurate than, say, Google Maps.

Gary Watson, CEO of Beanplanet Limited said:

"We're really pleased with what we have delivered to Intelligent Addressing and on behalf of local government. The CM application takes Beanplanet forward in terms of delivering useful and cost effective IT for both government and private sector partnerships and is yet another feather in the cap for the company. We're on the leading edge of delivering successful IT projects because of our communication skills, sound IT know-how and very flexible and agile approach to management of IT projects. We wish the NLPG, NSG and the CM application the besk of luck and look forward to supporting the application."

Chris Taylor, CTO of Beanplanet Limited said:

"The CM application is proprietry but uses many open source packages, including the Beanplanet Framework. The Beanplanet Framework encompasses over 30 man years of IT experience and really helped to piece together the application. At its heart, CM is like any other web application but it also has an extensive spatial side and it has to interact with a map which sets it aside from other applications. CM is able to input information and interact with the map without the clunky browser page refreshes and annoying wait times seen by many web applications. Just take a look at the screenshots and running demos to see how a proper web application should work."
